Green Lion Landscape, Inc. is a licensed California contractor (CSLB #1150882) serving the Central Valley, the Bay Area, and Sacramento. We want every part of this site — the portfolio, the published prices, and the quote form — to work for visitors with disabilities, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, screen magnification, speech input, or captions.
Accessibility is treated here as an ongoing obligation, not a one-time project. This page describes the standard we build to, what we have done, what we know is still imperfect, and how to reach a person who can help.
The standard we build to
This site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 AA is the benchmark most commonly applied to business websites under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and under California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act (California Civil Code § 51) and Disabled Persons Act (§ 54). Where a WCAG 2.2 success criterion was straightforward to meet, we have met it as well.
Conformance status: partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means most of the site meets the standard, and the exceptions we are aware of are listed below rather than left for you to discover.
What we have done
- Keyboard access throughout. Every menu, button, photograph viewer, and form control can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring that stays legible on dark pages, on ivory pages, and over photography.
- A skip link to jump straight past the navigation to the page content.
- Motion you control. The moving type, the drifting backgrounds, the photo film-strip, and the hero video can all be stopped from a single “Pause motion” control at the top of every page, and your choice is remembered as you move around the site. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site starts paused without being asked.
- Text alternatives. Photographs carry descriptions written for meaning rather than filenames; purely decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers so it does not clutter the reading order.
- Colour contrast tested against the WCAG AA thresholds for body text, headings, and interface controls.
- Forms that explain themselves. Every field has a permanent visible label, is announced to screen readers, and works with browser autofill. If something is wrong, the specific field is named, the problem is explained in plain words, and the keyboard is taken to it.
- Structure a screen reader can navigate — real headings in order, landmark regions, and lists that are marked up as lists.
- Responsive layout that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide and at 200% zoom.
- Support for Windows High Contrast and other forced-colour modes.
Known limitations
We would rather tell you these than have you find them:
- Photography descriptions. Our project photographs are described in a sentence. For a garden, a sentence is a summary, not the whole picture. If you would like a fuller description of any project on this site, call or email us and we will describe it to you.
- The drag-to-browse film-strip on the home page can be swiped or dragged with a pointer. It can equally be moved with the left and right arrow keys and with the previous and next buttons, and it can be stopped entirely — but the drag gesture itself has no touch equivalent for people who cannot drag.
- Third-party content. Links out to Google Maps, Instagram, Facebook, and the CSLB licence lookup lead to sites we do not build or control, and we cannot guarantee their accessibility.
- Ornamental typography. Some small mono-spaced labels are set in wide letter-spacing for the design. They meet the contrast requirement, but they are small; browser zoom and text-resizing work on them normally.

When you write, it helps to tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse — but none of that is required. A sentence is enough.
Our response commitment: we aim to reply to accessibility reports within two business days, and to resolve or give you a dated plan for anything we can reproduce within ten business days. Californians using the California Relay Service can reach either number above by dialling 711.

Accessibility is re-checked whenever pages or components change.
